SKYF THE MOVIE TRAILER

SKYF is a witty tale that interweaves the journeys of seven strangers, all connected by their common addiction. Themba (Thapelo Mokoena) is a family man badly feeling the credit crunch. Today we received the 2nd delivery from our favourite street brand W.A.T.E.R,whenever W.A.T.E.R drops new items the store staff always go crazy as they are unpacking it.This kinda reminds me of BAPE when it 1st came out in the states.But lets get back to the product.The product that has come in this delivery are 3 hand printed and custom designed Tank tops.They come in blue,grey and red,and they are in time for the hot summer days.Get yours now...stock very limited.

Today we received some products for our HOME section.Just in time for the new year and all the peeps moving to Jozi for work/study.Interesting story about these is that the instore staff were like "the plate is sea sand....the bowl is shallow part of the sea and it gets deeper with the layers......then the mug is DEEP ocean!" crazy people that we work with...LOL

Just in from the OLIskateboards POP-UP space today is the two tone jean shorts.This is an interesting in-house drop from the brand.Very well constructed shorts from bull denim...these have some real nice details on them (if you are a skater you will appreciate)Deep pockects for all your stash,side tight pockect for your phone/mp3,hard denim for those nasty falls,embroided 'o'logo on the back pocket.Quantities are very limited

POP-UPspace:OLIskateboards

Today we had the pleasure of sitting down with Andile a.k.a "scotch" from Designer Original Product Enterprise and chat about the latest POP-UP space @DOPEstore.

iamsodope(IaSD): How are you Cap?LOL

Andile: I'm good bro....happy I made it into 2012.

IaSD: So tell us about OLIskateboards?

Andile: Oli skateboards is a very special project....that I started working on in 2004.It was my first move into the world of designing....and skateboarding was really taking off at that time and I wanted to design something cool, something that wasn't typical and that's how I came up with Oli. I worked on this for about a year and six months and things were going great and the product I was producing was growing,so naturally   I wanted a space for my brand.

IaSD:Yeah??

Andile: Yeah....but i had no knowledge on how and where to even begin.....and money to support two businesses was going to be really tough to find.So I decided to get more experience by relocating to a new city where I could focus on my goals.

IaSD:Where did you go?

Andile: Moved to Brisol in England and that's where things started falling into place and the vision started coming clearer. Worked for a really dope company called NEXT for three years and that's where I learned about store operations.

IaSD: And OLI?  
Andile: The plan was to come back and open an OLI skateboards store in Durban.....but after being exposed to so much when I was in Europe....I felt that I had to do something better,build a world that would   bring together everything cool.....That is how the company Designer Original Products Enterprise was born.So to answer that question you asked me ealier... Oli is the reason for D.O.P.E

IaSD: Why the return now?
Andile: Well I felt the time was right for the space to pay homage to reason its around....and also because with the store being finished, there is more time to design products. Also the area we in needs a skate shop,the amount of kids that skate in the city is insane....but there is no place where they can get skate goods is silly.

IaSD: Where to from here?
Andile: Well Oli skateboards is a Pop-Up store for now so lets wait and see.Its here till Feb and in-between all of that we are looking at hosting a skate comp in a few weeks, we've already had AV13 premier  and more product is coming in this month..who knows whats next.

IaSD: Should we expect a stand alone OLI store?
Andile: That would be a dream come true!

IaSD: Thank you for taking the time to speak to us.
Andile: No worries.

Today we take a look at the first product received for our new POP-UP space 'OLIskateboards'.Funisu skateboards have done it again.....producing a really good product with crazy graphics.We received three different boards with graphics inspired by AFRICAN hero's and these were designed by Mzwandile.They feature the likes on Fela Kuti and message comes from his songs.Come thru and check these out before they are out!

Jean Paul Gaultier born 24 April 1952 in Arcueil, Val-de-Marne, France) is a French haute couture fashion designer. Gaultier was the creative director of Hermès from 2003 to 2010.^[1] In the past, he has hosted the television series Eurotrash.Gaultier never received formal training as a designer. Instead, he started sending sketches to famous couture stylists at an early age. Pierre Cardin was impressed by his talent and hired him as an assistant in 1970.What brought Gaultier immense success was the advent of his haute couture line in 1997. Through this collection, he was able to freely express the scope and range of his aesthetic, drawing inspiration from radically divergent cultures, from imperial India to Hasidic Judaism. As a result of this success, Hermèshired Gaultier as creative director from 2003 to 2010. Hermes took a 30% stake in Jean Paul Gaultier in 2003 and later increased their stake to 45%.

POP-UP:OLI skateboards(DECEMBER - JANUARY)

STREET :STRUSSBOB snapbacks

Today we have just received the 1st delivery from our peoples at Strussbob.It looks like they have also joined the snapback race for the summer 2011/12.They have decided to stay very simple by keeping the design that works for them over the last few years.The nice touch is seen in materials chosen for the caps,with the green cap-they decided to go with our personal favourite 'FELT' and with the blue colourway they decided to go with cotton.

MEDIAroom:FOR THE LOVE OF VINYL installation

Today we are happy to share our latest installation in our MEDIA room.This installation was inspired by our friend who was collecting VINYL's since the age of 11,his love for music is something out of this world!So when he told us he was moving to Israel and wanted to give us his collection.....we were sad,but he said someone will appreciate his collection because he's leaving it with the rite people.So in his honour we will have RETRO SATURDAY's from 14:00-17:00 and celebrate the lost art of playing music on VINYL,every VINYL lover is welcome to play a set for other VINYL lover's!

FASHION FLOOR:INTREPID (new brand)

Today we would like to introduce you to 'ITREPID'-a brand we found by chance or maybe it was fate?This season we re-launched our in-store brand and while we were looking for a c-m-t to construct our designs,we heard about a company based in durban, and they had built a reputation for good craftmanship.That is where we met Nkanyiso the man behind INTREPID.He hails from a family of dress makers and tailors, from his grandmother to his mom&aunts,the skill of making clothes has been passed from generation to generation.So the new blood has decided to formalize the family tradition and build a new brand.....so from his S/S collection, this is what he came up with.(details on all garments are just way to DOPE)
